LB1044, Nebraska Business Innovation Act (2026)

February 2, 2026 · Banking, Commerce and Insurance Committee

Testified as proponent on behalf of Don’t Panic Labs, the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, and the Omaha Chamber of Commerce. The bill locks in Nebraska’s investment in the innovation economy, setting an annual funding floor. The committee advanced it 8 to 0 on the day of testimony.

“The Business Innovation Act has been the right solution for our ecosystem. The BIA has provided the oxygen for us to get this far. Now is the time to maintain or increase the flow so we will not miss this moment.”

Testified as proponent on behalf of Don’t Panic Labs and the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. The 2026 LB1044 testimony built directly on this earlier work; the coalition expanded to add the Omaha Chamber.

“LB812 will help level the playing field and keep custom software development within our state, and ultimately we believe it will help the start-ups succeed and that will ultimately create more jobs.”
